A Load off my Mind

Ken’di was the only one that actually knew how to properly handle her  load – as sleep pod transport had been her job once. Then again, Bridit  and Baedar were not the most coordinated pair, lugging their pot along.


At least they didn’t chatter. No room for worry. Just get Alice to the Doctor.

The  winding path gave way to the materials elevator – this was emergency  enough – to the outer torus. And – well, even if Alice had seen the door  to the waiting room, she wouldn’t have recognized it’s label, would  she? It wasn’t “Emergency” – or the Red Cross or Red Crescent symbols  that humans had agreed upon.

The three and two halves barged in.

The  waiting room was … rather generic to human eyes. One wall was a  mirror, and three rows of chairs behind that, facing alternate  directions, with barely enough room for knees and walking between. And  some Cable Food Show playing on a small tv mounted in the corner, muted.
