Ouinhed Species Notes

The Ouinhed species has been primarily diasporic for somewhere around a million years. At the very beginning of this period, the species settled in a solar system around a red giant had maybe a thousand year spree of cylinder building – pointing the vessels in various directions and accelerating them with first stellar laser, then antimatter thrust. The end of this period was the breakdown of antimatter production facilities in near major population centers – not a lack of other resources.

The last ships were primarily accelerated by stellar laser. It is unknown if in the end they broke down due to repairs being impossible, or consumed by their late-stage star.

With long periods of interbreeding, Ouinhed populations are still large enough not to have undergone rapid ship-based speciation. Of still surviving ships, populations have grown taller as the ships have been allowed to operate at lower spin over the centuries to better manage stress.

The average Ouinhead can be described as a bipedal Mink. The have somewhat loose family units, with communal raising. They wear heavier clothing than their environments might necessitate – for durability, and to stand up to the rigors of certain tasks, like inter-floor transfer.

Ouinhead diet is not hugely varied; they may have cultivated a variety of fruit subspecies, but only one or two fruit subspecies might actually survive.
